There are so many things you can do in order to help others that it can actually stagger the imagination if you take the time to think about it. You can give people a little cash for a quick, one-on-one kind of help; you can volunteer your time at something like a soup kitchen; and you can even make a car donation to charities that are set up for taking them. When you've got a vehicle you don't need any more, that's actually the biggest one of all, because that will always be a big help: it can become a logistical mechanism or funding for all kinds of meaningful projects.
Of course, you need to make decisions here as well. Different car donation charities focus on different things. Some do everything they can to help underprivileged children, some put all of their attention on other demographic categories, and some cover a much more generalized range of people in need. So, you need to decide who you're going to help in giving up your car, because it's literally not going to all go to the same place in the end. It's best to take a look at who each group says they work with and decide from that what you're going to do.
Fortunately, no matter who you decide to focus your gift on, you're still going to be making a big difference in the lives you touch. All car donation charities are very helpful because of the needs that they meet - in the case of children, they can literally give them a future when they might not have made it another whole year. Naturally, you're still perfectly able to do anything else you want in order to help as well; but it's worth considering how much you can do by giving up a vehicle you don't need any longer and then acting on that consideration.
